About Feedback Your reputation provides an indicator of how much trading you have done on the auction site and allows other buyers and sellers to get an idea of your trustworthiness and experience.
Wherever a user id appears, the reputation for that user is also shown.
Click on the reputation to see full details of that user's reputation.
How we calculate feedback
We take the total number of positive and neutral comments left and divide it into the same number plus the number of negative comments.
Standard Bidding & Proxy Bidding Standard biddingStandard bidding is the most common way to bid on an item, and is exactly the same as the process used in real-world auction rooms. You bid the minimum amount needed to outbid the current high bidder.Proxy BiddingA Proxy bid means that you bid an amount that is higher than necessary. The auction software will raise your actual bid to the minimum necessary, but will remember your maximum. If someone else comes along and tries to outbid you, the auction software will automatically place additional bids on your behalf up to the value of your proxy bid. This means you can stay on top of the bidding without having to be near a computer. Here's how you do it1. Find the item you'd like to bid on - either by browsing the categories down the left of your screen, or by using the search box just below the navigation bar.2. To place a bid, enter your chosen amount into the "Place Bid" field in the item listing.- Click the Place Bid button to continue.
3. The bid confirmation screen will display the minimum bid needed (standard bid) and will allow you to adjust your bid accordingly.a. If you wish to place a standard bid, adjust your bid to match the Minimum Bid value shownb. If you wish to place a proxy bid, enter your maximum bid into the Your Bid field4. You will now see confirmation that you are the high bidder or a message telling you that you have been outbid, or that you bid is below the reserve price. Spoof E-mails Spoof or "phishing" emails and websites are becoming an increasing problem for unsuspecting internet users. Spoof e-mails claiming to come from 121Offer or other popular websites. These e-mails are generally known as 'spoof' or 'phishing' e-mails. The people who send these e-mails hope that unsuspecting recipients will reply or click on a link contained inthe e-mail and then provide sensitive personal information such as passwords, credit card numbers or bank account details.
To protect yourself- Always remember that 121Offer will never ask you for your private information, such as credit card information or your account password, in an email.
- The email address that appears in
the ‘from’ field of an email is not a guarantee that the email came from
121Offer it says it did.
- Fraudsters are unlikely to know your real name, so the email may address you in vague terms, eg ‘Dear Valued Customer’.
Buyer Safety Guide | | We sure you've heard the expression, ‘If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.’ Apparently the old adage still applies: If a deal seems too good to be true, it is probably a deal that you should pass up or If you are unsure about any aspect
of the item you are purchasing then at least contact the seller. Good sellers
will always be happy to answer reasonable questions. | Check The Seller's FeedbackFeedback is a way for previous customers to rate the seller and this is worth checking prior to purchasing an item. Feedback it's a great way to see if your seller has agood trading history. Check The Item(s)Review the description, pictures, delivery cost and the normal retail price of the goods. Ensure you know what you are buying.Check How To PayOnline payments are necessary and usually safe but only if you choose the right method and take care to protect yourself. You need to check what form of payment the seller will accept and whether there will be any associated costs. Never Pay With Cash! The best methods of payment from the view point of the customer are through companies such as Moneybookeror PayPal. is another secure way of making payment. Using the companies above will also ensure that the seller will not see your credit card number and details. By paying via Credit Card you will be entitled to additional protection subject to your card issuers Terms & Conditions. Check Your BidHow much are you willing to pay? Consider any add costs such as delivery etc. and then if you are still happy with it place your bid. Remembering that if the bid is accepted then you will be expected to complete your side of the deal and pay.
What to do if you have a complaint? If you are experiencing problems with transaction.Firstly try to resolve any issues directly with the seller. This will be by far the quickest method but may sometimes not be possible. If the seller is not responding then you should contact either your credit card issuer or Payment Provider such as Moneybookers, Paypal etc. You may be able to recover any monies paid - this will obviously depend on the circumstances. The OFT (Office of Fair Trading) will consider complaints from consumers about traders, but please note that they are unable to seek redress or compensation for individual cases. The OFT can provide guidance on whom to contact for help though - You can contact them on 08457 22 44 99, or email enquiries@oft.gsi.gov.ukIf you discover that something you bought on auction has been falsely described then you may wish to contact Consumerline on 0845 600 62 62.If you believe that you have been a victim of criminal fraud then you may wish to report it to the Police. Scam and Fraud Here are most common scam / fraud.
False Adverts: Using trading accounts set up with false identities. Any member of an auction site is able to place an advert offering an item for sale. These frauds are simply committed by fraudsters placing adverts to sell items that they do not have or they have no intention of selling. The 'buying member, having won the auction, will then transfer money into an account specified by the fraudster with no item of property being exchanged.
Second Chance' Fraud: Scammers are impersonating sellers in an attempt to hoodwink users of the online auction site into handing over payment for non-existentgoods. If the person who wins an auction on the site fails to buy the goods, the second highest bidder of an auction may be offered the option to purchasegoods at his / her offer price. In some cases fraudsters are e-mailing the second highest bidder claiming the winner has 'pulled out'. The fraudster requests themoney is paid direct into an account and victim does not receive the goods.
Shill Bidding: Method by which an auctioneer bids on his or her own auction to inflate the price.
Failure to ship merchandise: The merchant takes your money and runs, leaving you nothing but a lighter wallet for your troubles.
Failure to pay: Through the use of fake money orders, bounced checks, stolen credit cards, or a number of other techniques, the buyer gets the goods and leaves the merchant with nothing in return.
Piracy and counterfeiting: The sale of pirated music and software or counterfeit art, phony jewelry or gems, and forged collectibles.
The "Buy and Switch": The buyer gets the merchandise and returns a similar item that has been damaged, or a fake, with the claim, "It isn't what I expected." The seller refunds their money, and is left with broken and unresellable product.
Fee stacking: Fees, usually "related" to shipping costs, are added to the cost after the sale has been made.
Loss or Damage Claims: Not always fraudulent. After all, things do get broken in transit. Often these claims are a result of the buy and switch, or careless handling by the buyer.
